Plant Swap

How it works.

Time: Bring plants at 10:30 (allowing us time to setup) and the plant swap starts at 11-3pm on 12th of June 2022

Suggested Entry Donation: £3 (you may buy tokens for £2 each to exchange for extra plants)

Venue: Grain Barn at Creake Abbey

How it works:

For each plant/ gardening equipment you bring, in return you will get a token, which you can then exchange, for other plants/ gardening equipment at the swap.

We are running this Plant Swap to encourage more people to enjoy and connect with plants and to help newbies get started with plants and gardening. This means that we do not do a straight up ‘plant for a plant’ exchange. You bring your plants, and someone will put them out on a table. Then at the start time, you choose some new plants to take away.

We will accept:

Seedlings, Seeds, Plants, Saplings, Trees, House Plants, Bulbs, Pots, Tools and other plant-related Gardening Paraphernalia.

A few rules of the event;

-  Label your plants. (Pretty please!)
We love a mystery plant as much as the next plant hoarder but we want to be inclusive and encourage new plant parents. Therefore, if you know what type of plant it is, please label it.

-  Use individual pots.
Use individual pots so they are easy for people to take away. Multiple plants in one pot or multi-pots joined together may be left or may be taken all in one go. This does not mean you have to give away precious plant pots – yoghurt pots, tins and takeaway cups all recycle well as temporary containers!

-  Prepare unrooted cuttings or cuttings in water.
Prepare cuttings by bringing these wrapped in damp kitchen towel and a plastic bag or container. This helps people get them home without damaging them.

-  What if I don’t have any plants?
If you do not have any plants to bring to the swap but still want to come, do not worry! You can buy extra tokens for £2 each, which you can then exchange for a plant!

-  No swapping before the start!
We want to be fair so no taking plants before the start of the swap. We will give everyone a shout when that is!

All proceeds from the Plant Swap (entrance donations and extra tokens bought/ donations on the day) go to Wells Community Hospital Trust.

This is a sustainable and inclusive way of enabling the local community to access plantswhilst raising money for Wells Community Hospital Trust.
